It is not necessary to remove stones, repair the item and then re-set the stones. Welds can done on the exact area that needs work, with target heat pulses that only weld a small area at a time. Tacking is easy, and multiple welds can quickly be added to fully weld the item, and more added to smooth the surface. You can adjust the laser beam from 0.2mm to 2mm for complete control of the heat and location. Welds can be carried out as close as 0.5mm from a heat-sensitive stone.
