Fiber Laser Welding Helmet Gen2
Overview of laser welding helmet
Scope of protection from fiber laser radiation
Our laser welding Helmet Mk2 has been designed and developed to keep your eyes and face safe from strong laser reflections from fibre laser welders up to 2kW or even 3kW. This has been tested for the YAG and fibre laser wavelength range of 1060 to 1085nm.
It passes the “worst case” penetration test of EN207 for “Laser Welder” brand hand held laser welders from laser-welder.net or laser-welder.com.au based on a total divergence angle of 0.75 degrees (based on a circle which contains 63% of the laser power), and 100% specular reflection at 100% power on a 2kW laser welder held 41cm or 16 inches from the nozzle/tip.
Protection is provided for at least 5 seconds of continuous exposure at this condition, but stop welding and/or move out of the way immediately if a laser strike is suspected.
Fibre laser glasses sold by laser-welder.net or laser-welder.com.au must be worn under this helmet. This provides redundancy and protection in the case of a user forgetting to flip their helmet down for example.
This helmet protects the user from Infra Red (IR) and Ultra Violet (UV) radiation when used per these instructions.
The auto darkening feature automatically changes from light to dark when welding is detected, then turns light again when welding is completed. This protects the eyes from extreme brightness caused by welding.
Multiple layers of protection
Multi layered defense system meets EN207 and OSHA requirements for laser welding:
Filter 0: Clear, protective clear plastic covers inside and out to keep out spatter, grind particles, etc.
Filter 1: Special infrared blocking “clear” filter for 700-1100nm IR.
Filter 2: Silvered multi layer filter for UV and IR
Filter 3: Auto LCD filter for visible light, adjustable for comfort
Shell 1: Frame: Reflective heat shield
Shell 2: Reflective coating
Shell 3: High temperature polymer
Arc welding use in addition to laser welding
Certified for arc welding in the USA and also where EN379 applies:
Meets ANSI Z87.1
Meets CE EN 379
Suits laser cleaning, which requires auto dimming
Meets and exceeds federal OSHA requirements
